Kenya Gititu AA Filter

This is a particularly exciting time of year for us at Everyday. Fresh crop Kenyan coffees have landed! We have let this one rest for a couple of months setting it up to be at its absolute best in terms of freshness and flavour once we release it. 

It was a competitive buying round for Kenyan lots this year, and we were able to score a couple of gems. This one being our biggest lot and first off the ranks. Gititu is one of four factories operated by the Aguthi Farmers Cooperative Society and is located in a highly productive growing area that is bordered by Mt. Kenya in the west and the Abadare Ranges to the east. Gititu coffee factory (or washing station) receives coffee cherries (fruit of the coffee tree containing the seed) from approximately 800 small holders. They carefully process and prepare the coffee for the farmers to an immaculate standard and in this case, to the AA screen size, often considered the top quality. This is one of the triumphs of the complex and at times bureaucratic Kenyan coffee landscape, coffee is farmed to an exacting standard and then processed with the same attention to detail in large co-operative owned washing stations, focussed on keeping standards and prices high for everyone in the chain.

This specific lot is full of big, classic Kenyan coffee flavours, this time in the form of Blackberry Jam and Caramel. It's going to be a stunner and we can't wait to share it with you!
