Colombia La Union Espresso
FUDAM is a 300-member organic co-op in Nariño, Colombia, known for its commitment to sustainability and quality. This washed lot of Castillo and Colombia varieties is all mellow fruit—jammy apricot and cooked berries—with a lift of juicy malic acidity and soft cacao sweetness. Classic southern Nariño: clean, sweet, and quietly complex.
This washed Fair Trade Organic lot comes from FUDAM, a 300-member cooperative based in La Unión, Nariño, Colombia. In the cup, it offers mellow jammy apricot, cacao, and cooked berry notes, with juicy malic acidity and clean, fruit-like sweetness. It’s approachable, balanced, and great both black or with milk.
FUDAM was founded in 2000 by a small group of farmers committed to sustainable and organic agriculture. Their farms sit at elevations of 1500–2200 MASL, in a rugged area where towns are often higher than the farms themselves. The cooperative maintains strict organic practices as a core value, not just a certification — emphasizing environmental care and long-term sustainability.
Processing is traditional: cherries are depulped the same day they’re picked, fermented for 16–24 hours, and washed multiple times. Drying is done in mechanical or parabolic dryers, depending on the farm, with times ranging from 40 hours to 15 days. The result is a clean, vibrant coffee that reflects the dedication of its producers and the unique terrain of southern Colombia.
